We don’t always do things in the order you’re meant to. We had two children before marrying. We once had a large dog, before we had a big garden. We bought the house with the big garden, before we could really afford it. And we had our third child, before we’d built the extra bedroom.
Elodie is nearly 7 months. Elodie still doesn’t have a bedroom.
I want her to have her own room, so she has somewhere of her own to play and somewhere to put her things. And, quite frankly, I want her to have her own room because I’m a little fed up of not being able to use my own. Our room is a no go area during morning nap, afternoon nap and bedtime. No time for tidying, yeah, not gutted about that one. No time for bedtime reading, I do miss this. And, our room is now a little cramped.
This time last year, I thought we’d be months away from this room taking shape. This year, I’m in the same place. Fingers crossed we’ll pull our finger out this time and don’t uncover any structural nasties. We don’t like those and neither does our bank balance.
In the spirit of optimism, I’ve been thinking about how I would like Elodie’s bedroom to look. I already have most of her bedroom furniture, but I’d like to add a couple of extra bits, like a toy cupboard. I’ve had my eye on a few display cabinets from eBay and am planning to ‘Annie Sloan’ one up when the time comes.
Here are some of the ideas I quite like. Clouds and the colours pink, grey and mint seem to be featuring heavily! I definitely want to get some of these cloud shelves and I’d love to have a go at making an origami mobile! I have also pinned a load more ‘inspiration’ to my pinterest page. Fingers crossed, she’ll have her room soon!
