Sofa Styling Inspiration

Changing the styling of your existing sofa can have a huge impact on the look and feel of your living space, without making very much effort at all. It can also help you to fall in love with your tired looking sofas once more, by giving them a new lease of life. At least this is what I keep telling myself of our now weathered suite.

So whether you are looking for a new sofas entirely, or just to refresh your existing ones, here are some super stylish ideas to help update your living rooms.

Industrial

I am a huge fan of the industrial look. The whole gastro pub, cool cafe look, is very much up my street and it can work so well in living spaces too. My favourite thing about this style, is that it doesn’t have to be exacting. It can be a little worn around the edges, it doesn’t have to be perfectly neat, but it is still super stylish and well put together. Perfect for a family home where you can expect your sofas, floors and walls to be put through their paces.

The key to getting a look like this right is to look for dark coloured sofas. Dark brown and cherry red chesterfields work really well, because adding a bit of vintage only enhances this eclectic style. Use large relaxed cushions sparingly and avoid anything to chintzy. If your living space has architectural features like large windows, exposed brick and floorboards, then this will work to enhance the look.

Inspired by Nature

If you follow my blog, you will know that I love houseplants (despite my alarming ability to kill them) and I also love the way botanical prints can freshen up your interiors. Incorporating elements from nature into you home is a fantastic way of creating a sense of calm, and who wouldn’t like a bit more of that in their living room?

To get this look right, look for textured throws made from natural fibres like cotton, jute rugs, shades of cream and green, as well as a healthy selection of house plants.

Grey Modern

Sleek, grey and modern, with copper accents is a look I have long admired, but sadly not one I am able to have in our home. With three kids and a dog, fabric sofas are just not practical for me. So instead, I have to settle for stalking other lovely bloggers (like Morgana’s from Coffee, Work, Sleep, Repeat’s Instagram) grey sofas with envy.

I love grey sofas like these when they are paired with bold prints on the walls, a little pink here and there, as well as copper details and candles. I think a room like this makes the perfect retreat to relax in whilst watching Netflix, with a big glass of red wine!

I love all these and it’s hard to choose a favourite one. I guess at the moment it will be the grey modern as I am loving a bit of copper these days, unfortunately, like you, I don’t think that look will be practical in my house!
