This summer, I laid my oversized silver shopper to rest. It had seen me through thick and thin, through summer and winter, but alas it’s handle broke whilst we were away on holiday, and that, as they say, was that.
Though nothing will hold the place in my heart that a dependable breton stripe will forever hold, I am partial to a bit of silver. Luckily for me, the shops are awash with this and lots of other lovely metallic shades this season. So how to nail the look, without looking a bit Pat Butcher? I guess the key is not dressing in it head to toe, like a turkey fit for Christmas, and pairing it with more muted tone. You know, keeping it classy, like.
Here are just a few ways you could incorporate a little bit of silver into your wardrobe.
Brave the Silver Skirt
This is one of those looks that I think looks great on other people, but somehow I am not sure I could pull it off. Perhaps because my bottom half is larger than my top half, perhaps because it screams look at me. Actually, second thoughts, just spotted the silver mini from Topshop below. I think this one could change my mind!
Either way, I think it looks great on these women, who keep it pared down by styling theirs with casual tees or sweatshirts.
Walk the Walk
I want some silver shoes SO bad. I have seen a few people showing off their lovely shiny pairs over on Instagram, and it’s given me a case of the green-eyed monster. Trouble is I can’t decide between ballet pumps, brogues or trainers, or more accurately, I want all three!
Accessorize Like a Magpie
This is my favourite way to do it, hence my love for my now retired bag and I love stacking silver jewellery tpp. This is definitely the easiest way to subtly work the trend into your everyday wardrobe.
