If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen that my friend and I have been busy painting floorboards this week. I would love for us to be able to move into our new bedroom next week and although there are still lots of things to buy, like the desk I can’t decide on and bedside tables, we are getting closer.
Once the furniture has finally been decided on, we will be able to start looking for some accessories to make the room feel more homely. I can’t decide which bits are more fun to choose, the furniture, or the knickknacks that sit alongside them. I’m swaying towards the latter.
We have chosen a really simple white bed from Wayfair, so I feel like there will be scope to have a little fun with the rest of the furniture and accessories that we choose. I would have liked a more elaborate, probably vintage bed for the room, but Chris and I couldn’t agree on one, so we went for plain and simple instead. At least that way neither of us was lumbered with a bed we hated and as the most expensive item we’ll buy for this room, it’s probably a good idea to choose something simple, that will stand the test of time (at least we hope it will).
We already have a few things that I think will work well with the decor we have chosen, including a wooden vintage chest. This could work well at the end of the bed, either as a washing basket or blanket box. It is quite battered and old, but that’s how I like it, I think it could add some character and texture to the room. It was given to us by a friend of my Mother in law’s, but you might be able to find something similar on eBay. Ebay is my absolute favourite place to pick up old pieces of furniture and a great way to fill your home with lovely furniture on a budget.
I’m really struggling to find some bedside tables that I like, I think they are so tricky to get right. Of everywhere that I have looked, Loaf have my favourite selection, the only problem being that they aren’t exactly purse friendly. Here are a few that I quite like the look of. Which would you choose?
I think I am leaning towards preferring the Campaign table, but I would, wouldn’t I? They’re only by far the most expensive of the three.
A bedside table would not be complete without a lamp. Here are a few of the options that I think could work well in our room.
I realise that it may be a bit sad to get excited at the thought of buying new bedding, but I am. Yes, I clearly have very little else going on in my life right now, because I am excited at the thought of buying new bed linen. What has become of me?
I quite fancy buying some more expensive bedding. I have a friend who always spends a lot on hers, and I am sorry to say, you really can tell the difference. Having said that, Primark home do make some very pretty designs, though I can’t promise that the fabric won’t be scratchy.
Here are a few things that I have my eye on for our bed.
I’m itching to get upstairs and get cracking on the work that is left to do, but am currently glued to the sofa, with a warm and sickly toddler nestled into the nook of my arm. I have found this to be very much the way things go, when doing up a home with a young family, there’s alway something more important than painting to attend to.
